Cosy toes!

This is probably the most random blog post ever because I'm writing about socks! I love cosy socks in this cold weather. When you are cold you lose heat mainly from your head and feet so make sure you keep those feet of yours wrapped up nice and warm! If you are just hanging around your house like I did today and it is pretty damn freezing then go and buy some cosy socks because these bad boys will make your life 250% cosier!!

These socks here, I just picked up from H&M on Friday for £5.99. They are a pair of knee high socks, so I originally put them up all the way to my knees but during the day they rolled down. I actually put these over my tights because they're quite thin so my feet weren't warm enough.

Let me tell you, my feet have never felt more toasty and warm than they did today! I feel so weird writing about this right now haha... I also like the design on them so I think they would look pretty cute sticking out of my boots. I might be going out soon so I'll see how they are with the boots... which are also from H&M... I've just been loving that shop recently!

Anyway thanks for taking your time reading my ramblings about socks!

See you with another post tomorrow :)

Saturday Outfit

Hey guys!

So a couple days ago I decided to set myself the target of blogging every single day atleast up until the New Year so make sure you come here for daily updates.. I'll most likely be publishing every evening (UK time) so make sure to follow me on my Twitter page for updates :)

Today I'm showing you my outfit because I was pretty happy with it. Both top and skirt are pretty new.
I got this blush pink jumper from H&M yesterday in the Black Friday sales and the Maroon midi skirt I purchased from Pull and Bear a few weeks ago. My tights are also from H&M and the silver necklace was a gift from my parents when they went to Oman.

It's been a pretty crappy Saturday to be honest, I normally like to relax a bit more than work but today was hectic and I spent around five hours on the computer doing my English Language coursework, but I'm telling myself work hard now, it'll be worth it later, so let that be your motivation people!!!

I filmed a couple videos in the morning so if you would like to see those make sure you are subscribed to my YouTube channel www.youtube.com/maryquitecontrary96 and they will be up shortly. My latest video is a Get Ready With Me from yesterday.

I hope you have all had a better Saturday than I have!

What I am currently watching and enjoying!

Hi guys!

Today I will be writing about the movies & TV shows I have watched / currently watching.
First off I want to talk about The Imitation Game.

The Imitation Game follows the story of Alan Turing, an extremely intelligent mathematician played by the amazing Benedict Cumberbatch. The film highlights different aspects of Turing's life and it is truly moving and emotional. The plot follows his mission to break the Enigma so England can find out what Hitler is planning to do so they can defeat Germany.
At times it is funny, anxious, happy and deeply saddening so if you want to watch a movie that will touch you, you will not be disappointed. Cumberbatch's performance is seriously amazing! Speaking of Cumberbatch I cannot wait for Sherlock!!!

But my question to you is... Are you a Cumberbitch? ; )

The Flash

The Flash is a new series so if you are looking for a quirky new TV show with charisma this one is for you. The main character Barry Allen loses his mother in a murder caused by a yellow flash in the shape of a human. Barry's father is sentenced for his wife's murder but Barry is determined to find out what really caused his mother's death. An accident causes Barry to become a 'meta-human'. He is able to run at an incredibly fast speed and uses his powers to fight against crime in Central City and other meta humans whilst maintaining his day job as a Forensic Scientist at Central City Police Department.
So there you, that's just the basis of it, but I am just really enjoying watching it now. There's only 7 episodes out at the moment so not too much for you to catch up on!

Arrow

Arrow, also part of the CW Network is a series that has been running for a few years. There are a few episodes that overlap with the Flash which is pretty cool!
Arrow is about a billionaire, Oliver Queen who is stranded on a hellish island for 5 years. He returns to Starling City to the surprise of his family and the people of the city. Using his newfound skills he becomes a 'vigilante' - fighting crime and aiding the police.
There is a lot more to it than what you see on the surface and you learn a lot more about Queen as the show progresses. There are constant flashbacks in each episode to the times where Oliver was missing for five years.

So that is what I have been watching recently. I have also gone back to watching The Vampire Diaries  which I am also loving and am currently on Season 5 episode 11. Yes, I know.. Lots of catching up to do!

Update - College + Higher Education

Hey guys!

Recently I have been quite absent from the blogging / youtubing world and there are a few reasons for this:

- College stress - Nothing had prepared me for what was to come, but boy I am really feeling the jump from AS Level to A Level!
- Endless coursework - with two deadlines in the next three weeks the pressure is on so my mind has been elsewhere.
- UCAS application

A while ago I wrote about being confused with what to do next in my life. And I know many people around me are still feeling the same way. With university applications starting I headed to probably around 6 different university open days around Leicester, Loughborough, Nottingham, Sheffield and London. I am now happy to say I have applied for a Creative Digital Media course and received a conditional offer from two universities which I have accepted! I am so happy that I no longer feel lost / confused / anxious about the future. I researched so many different universities / courses and when I found this particular Media course, I knew it was right up my street and I am honestly so excited to start university!

I have to get certain grades to ensure my place at the university and if all goes well I could be moving to London next year which is so exciting yet sad at the same time. It'll be great for my blog / YouTube - hopefully I can create better content in a city full of culture and opportunity. At the same time, I am sad to leave my family behind. I am so close to my parents and I feel bad because I already know how upset they will be when I am gone, but I know if I do move they will probably be down every weekend or me coming back home! Yet I am excited to start afresh in a new city, make new friends and have a different environment to work in.

If you are still feeling confused, here are a few pointers:

- Just a few months ago I was deadset on not going to university. Every few weeks I kept changing my mind. I also thought I would be taking a gap year. Now both of these have completely changed as I am neither taking a gap year and I have applied to university. If you are still undecided, don't worry your time will come. Eventually something felt right for me and as I looked in to university more and visited open days I knew it was what I wanted to do.

- If you are applying for university find a course that you will enjoy, will be beneficial to you and your future.. Find out as much as you can about it

- University is not the only option - I initially wanted to do an apprenticeship but I couldn't find anything that I really wanted to do.. Ask advice from Connexions or Prospects, I'm always getting emails about new apprenticeships that are available.

I'm sorry I know I am not the best at giving advice but this is what I have done and found helpful.. You just have to be independent and go and search for what you want for yourself and what the best thing is for your future

Thanks for reading!

Kylie Jenner Makeup!

Hi guys!

So recently, especially on YouTube a lot of Kylie Jenner tutorials have been floating around and I really wanted to have a go at it. I am not a fan of the Kardashians, I don't watch them nor do I follow them but they always appear glamorous so I tried this look today.

The lipliner I used is called 'Soar' by Mac and is one of the lipliners that Kylie Jenner uses. I'm not sure what the other one is. But this liner is really nice and helps to plump out the lips. I felt very glam in this makeup even though it is 99% matte!

Here is a full list of products that I used:

Mac painterly paintpot
Smashbox Full Exposure Palette
Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner - pencil form - great dupe for the Benefit They're Real!
Maybelline The Falsies False Volum' Express
Urban Decay Rockstar Eyeliner
By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Foundation
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer - Custard
Nars Palm Beach Multiple Bronzer
MAC Soar Lipliner

What do you guys think?
