Life Update

Hey guys! Just a quick update and I'm sure if you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you'll know I have just moved house - only yesterday! For this reason I won't be blogging as frequently especially as we won't have wifi until Wednesday (Currently blogging from the Blogger app!)

This has been one heck of an amazing experience so far and probably one of the best things to happen in a long time. We're living in quite an empty house at the moment, no proper furniture (wardrobes, dining table etc..) but we are working on it.

Carnal Attraction

Firstly I must apologise for the lack of posts this week and I'm just being honest here - I was being lazy. Yep, simples, laziness caught up with me. I could've blogged but in the midst of going back to college and packing to move house - yes excuses excuses but anyway.... On to what this is actually about!

My mum was having a big makeup clear out which always means I get to bag a few things and one of them was this AMAZING deep berry colour. We're in the middle of Summer but who says you can't wear a dark lip in this weather?! Although this was at 11pm last night so I'm still too much of a coward as I haven't worn it out the house yet but that's not the point.. ;P

In all its glory.. By Terry's Rouge Terrybly 404 Carnal Attraction. Because this is such a dark colour I used a lipliner underneath - Maybelline Velvet Beige - two very different colours but you can't tell. You can probably use a dark lipliner if you have one but I don't so used this instead just to keep it neat.

The lipstick is amazing from the smooth consistency and the way it applies is so nice. I layered it up to be quite dark and bold.
My lips are quite small so I love how much bigger they look!
I also included a picture wearing glasses and I really like how glasses in general look with bold lips.
To create the winged liner I used Charlotte Tilbury's Feline Flick liquid eyeliner and on my cheeks I used Nars Palm Beach Multiple Bronzer because I also love the warm tones from the bronzer and the way it looks with the dark lip.

Sorry for all the posing :P And the quality isn't great because I didn't use my big camera like I usually do but hopefully these will suffice!

Fitness Friday #1

Hey guys,

Before I start writing what I want this post to mainly be about I just want to clear up two things: 1) I know it's not Friday but I really wanted to get this up yesterday but just didn't have the time after being out with my friend Tayyibah for most of the day. 2) I've been reluctant to write about this because it is a very personal issue and it's not something I usually write about here but hey this blog is about me, my life and why not write about it. And because this is a personal issue I haven't advertised this blog post on twitter or Instagram.

For quite a few years now I have struggled with my weight, insecurity and paranoia which has led me into spirals of depression and constantly hating myself and the way I look and feel in clothes. Over the years I have started and stopped eating healthily and exercising. I lose motivation and will power. But now for the past week I feel like I have never been more determined. I've started to look at my lifestyle and have realised I need a big change. With motivation I have learnt to become less pessimistic about myself, I take each day as it comes rather than waiting for the process to be over. But this isn't just weight loss, this is a lifestyle change. I'm loving this more positive outlook on life. I have already noticed a big difference - I'm less lazy, happier thanks to exercise and I feel more active. I started on the 3rd June, today is the 7th. Four days in & I am feeling as positive and determined that I WILL battle through this.
I know a lot of people think I probably sound stupid, but weight loss and change in lifestyle is psychologically challenging as much as it is physically challenging. Getting yourself in the right mindset is what enables you to feel determined and motivated.
At the beginning of this year I wrote a blog post about motivation and new years resolutions and let me be honest here, I wrote that 6 months ago and did not do anything to change the way I was living. Instead I piled on the pounds because all I would do was think about it and become more depressed. My parents have played a huge part in helping me with my mum guiding me on whats best for me to eat and how to exercise as well as my dad who is always there for me also. Also thanks to my aunty Peeny who has always helped me and given me the best tips!

I have only just gotten in to a routine but I'll briefly go over what I am doing at the moment:

Weekdays: 20minute intense workout DVD - Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. She is kicking my arse at the moment. Although they are intense, the workout is only 20mins and I love the feeling after completing that workout.

Saturdays: 30 minute walk on the treadmill, I will probably increase this by 5 minutes each week.

Sundays: Walk in the park - keeping it relaxed and try not to go over the top otherwise it can lead to being put off.

As for food I am recording both my exercise and food on MyFitnessPal and this app allows me to control how many calories I consume during the day and is also great for tracking progress.

I am going on holiday to Dubai in October (originally August) so it would be great for me to sort my body in to shape so I can enjoy myself there without having to worry about my weight.

I'll be back next week Friday to record how much progress I've made and how I'm feeling.

Throwback Thursday #2

Today we are travelling back in time to 2008. In this picture I was 12 years old with my cute cousin Waseem who was 2, almost 3 years old!

On this day - 31st July 2008, my aunty Peen took myself and Waseem on a day out to Windsor castle. We had a lot of fun especially when Waseem was scared of the beefeaters and their long swords. This picture must have been taken while we were on our way back because we both look exhausted!

Time flies so quickly I can't believe that was almost 6 years ago! So many precious memories :) And thanks Peeny for letting me wear your top that day!

'Smouldering' Smokey eye - My attempt for Amara!

I was asked by my lovely friend Amara to create a smouldering smokey eye and here is my attempt. For some reason, my camera doesn't pick up how dark this actually is but just know that in real life it was pretty dark and dramatic!

Amara asked me to use the Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo eyeshadow cream but I seem to have lost mine :( So instead I mixed two eyeliners mentioned below.

I started by mixing Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye pencils in Mushroom & Rockstar to make up for the Colour tattoo that I'm missing but this wasn't bronze enough so on top of this I used MAC Tempting eyeshadow across the whole lid.
I placed sellotape at the edges of my eyes and blended a Black glittery eyeshadow from MAC (I can't take it out of my palette so not sure of the name) but this wasn't dark enough so I used the matte black shade from the Naked 2 palette. I blended these concentrating on the outer corners and blending towards the centre of the lid to create a gradient effect and only blended slightly in to my crease.

I took the sellotape off and lined my eyes using the eyeshadow shape as a guide.
I used the Maybelline gel eyeliner in my waterline, tight line and also smudged it in to my lower lash line then used MAC Tempting eyeshadow again on the lower lash line just slightly underneath the eyeliner I smudged.

On the rest of my face:

Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation
MAC Margin blusher
Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow highlighter
Maybelline Lipliner in 630 Velvet Beige
Tanya Burr 'Chic' Lipgloss - dabbed down with tissue as it is slightly too pale for me.

I hope you like it!
